VMLC Selected as Leadership Dallas 2012 Class Project
The 2012 class raised $60,000, including $30,000 in donated goods and services, and contributed over 1,000 man-hours to make improvements to VMLC West Dallas campus for their annual class project, allowing the organization to better serve adults and children in an area where over 37 percent of the residents are below the poverty level. The project included a computer lab and a children's playground with the majority of the labor was done by the 54 class members. The Leadership Dallas 2012 Class installed a new computer lab for VMLC West Dallas.
The new computer facility includes 15 labtops, new workspaces, furniture and carpet. Computer activities are an important part of the curriculum used by VMLC to teach English as a second language.
